At least 40 people died on Friday in a bus accident in Pakistan's Zhob district after a bus plunged more than 20 meters deep into a gorge.

The incident occurred in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan. According to authorities, 40 people were killed and eight others were injured. The APA news agency reported, citing local sources, that rescue teams were able to reach the accident site only under difficult conditions because of the challenging terrain.

According to Sanaullah Sherani, head of the emergency center in Zhob district, the bus fell approximately 21 to 24 meters. It plunged into a gorge, according to the reports. Due to the remote location and poor accessibility of the area, recovery and rescue operations were particularly difficult, authorities said.
