Quetta, 24 May 2026

A bomb explosion tore through a train carrying soldiers and their families in Pakistan’s southwestern Baluchistan province on Sunday, killing at least 24 people and wounding more than 50, a senior official said.

The blast struck the train near the city of Quetta, the capital of the restive province, as it journeyed between Peshawar and the border town of Chaman Pattak, officials confirmed.

Describing the force of the bomb, a local administrative representative told reporters, “Dies habe eine ‘gewaltige Explosion’ zur Folge gehabt” – a massive explosion that tore through several carriages packed with security personnel and their relatives.

Witnesses at the scene described chaotic moments as passengers were thrown from their seats and carriages derailed, with luggage and debris scattered along the track.
