A 35-year-old suspect threatened an employee of the youth welfare office in Finsterwalde in southern Brandenburg and set her office on fire, forcing the building to be evacuated and resulting in four people being taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Brandenburg's Interior Minister Redmann stated on RBB that the background to the attack was possibly a case of child welfare endangerment.
