Finsterwalde, 03 August 2026
A branch of the Elbe-Elster district administration in Finsterwalde in southern Brandenburg has gradually resumed operations just days after an attack on an employee on 21 July.
The affected branch in Finsterwalde has been gradually used again for a few days, the district administration announced. According to the administration, access is tied to a security service and a prior appointment. With this, the authority is responding to the incident on 21 July, in which an employee was injured.
The case attracted attention beyond the region because it occurred in a facility that is directly aimed at families and children. Following the attack, the branch was initially closed to allow police work and internal clarifications. Now, operations are to gradually restart, while precautions to protect employees and visitors are simultaneously in effect.
