Austrian security forces arrested six individuals and conducted 14 house searches in a coordinated nationwide operation against Islamist extremism, the Directorate of State Protection and Intelligence (DSN) announced on Saturday.

The operation, which culminated in a so-called "Joint Action Day" on Wednesday, targeted individuals accused of membership in a terrorist organization, spreading propaganda for the "Islamic State" (IS) militia, incitement to terrorist offenses, and condoning terrorist acts. The DSN stated that the action likely "sustainably weakened" relevant networks.

Among those arrested are five male adolescents and adults aged between 14 and 45 years, and one 16-year-old female. Three of the six arrest warrants were executed directly on the Joint Action Day, which was carried out on the orders of public prosecutors' offices.
