The Austrian Green Party held its national congress in Graz on Saturday, where Leonore Gewessler delivered a combative speech targeting FPÖ, coalition, and the Social Democrats.

Sharp Attacks on Political Rivals

Addressing roughly 260 delegates, Gewessler framed the Greens as the only genuine alternative to what she called the 'blue destroyers' of the FPÖ and the 'management of decline' by ÖVP, SPÖ, and Neos.

She reserved particular scorn for the FPÖ, describing the party as a 'doomsday sect' and vowing not to leave the country to its leader Herbert Kickl without a fight. 'I stand here today because I do not want to hand this country over to Herbert Kickl without a struggle,' Gewessler said. 'It is up to us — who else?'
