Vienna, Austria — May 12, 2026
Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is significantly boosting its train services for the upcoming Ascension and Pentecost holidays, adding 47 extra trains to handle heightened passenger traffic.
Expanded Capacity on Key Routes
The railway operator will introduce 23 additional trains on the Western route, connecting major cities such as Vienna, Salzburg, and Feldkirch. Another 24 trains with double formations will operate on the Pyhrn Interregio line, which serves routes including Graz-Linz and Linz-Selzthal.
The move comes as ÖBB anticipates a surge in holiday travel, particularly for long-distance routes popular with tourists and families. The doubled formations on the Pyhrn line are expected to ease congestion and provide more seating options during peak travel periods.
