Austrian ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig is preparing for a comeback to competition roughly ten months after rupturing a cruciate ligament, targeting the opening events of the winter World Cup season.
Pinkelnig announced her return plans in an interview with ORF, saying she has completed a long rehabilitation process and feels physically ready to compete again. The Austrian, who is from Vorarlberg, ruptured a cruciate ligament in a fall that ended her previous campaign and kept her out of competition for the better part of a year.
Rehabilitation and return timeline
In the interview, Pinkelnig described the physical and mental toll of the injury and her recovery. "Unglaublich, was passiert ist. Es war ein harter Prozess. Und ich kann jetzt wirklich nach zehn Monaten sagen: Ich habe so viel Kraft wie schon lange nicht mehr. Ich bin so frei wie schon lange nicht mehr," she told ORF.
