US national team player Folarin Balogun has commented on the controversial overturning of his ban following a red card in the World Cup round of 16 against Bosnia-Herzegovina in an interview with the CBS program "CBS Mornings," also addressing the role of US President Donald Trump.
Speaking to "CBS Mornings," the 25-year-old striker said he was initially "completely shocked" by the video evidence that led to the red card. "I was completely shocked. But I had to accept the decision," Balogun said. Nevertheless, he stressed that an unintentional action should never result in a sending-off in his view: "If something is not intentional, it should never be a red. It was just an unfortunate situation."
