After a hazardous materials alert at Berlin's BER capital airport, flight operations in Terminal 1 have resumed, with affected passengers to be informed by their airlines about travel alternatives.
Following the hazardous materials alert at Berlin's BER airport, the situation eased again on Saturday. Flight operations in Terminal 1 were running as normal again, an airport spokesperson announced in the morning. Previously on Friday, parts of the airport had been temporarily evacuated, and flights had been diverted or cancelled.
The Federal Police were deployed at the BER capital airport on Friday due to the alert. According to the spokesperson, no injuries were reported. The area in which the hazardous substance was detected had been examined and subsequently cleared.
