The Styrian police issued an appeal to the public never to close off roads on their own authority for private parties or sporting events. Violations would be consistently prosecuted, the emergency services emphasized.

The recovery of the vehicle and the securing of the accident site were carried out jointly by the fire department and the police. Forensic experts documented the area in order to reconstruct the course of the accident.

Just last week, the Salzburg police reported a similar case in which an illegally closed section of road had been used for an unauthorized race. Comparable incidents have also occurred recently in Tyrol, which has reignited the discussion about stricter controls of private motorsport events.
