In a serious traffic accident on the B72 in the district of Weiz, four people were injured during the night into Tuesday. The driver was cut from the wreckage using rescue shears and airlifted to LKH Graz.
The accident occurred at road kilometer 28.1 on the B72 in the municipality of Anger. According to current findings, the driver presumably left the road due to excessive speed in the local roundabout, collided with a street lamp and several trees, before the vehicle came to rest on its roof in an adjacent wooded area.
While the three passengers – two 27-year-olds and a 42-year-old – were able to free themselves from the wreckage independently, the driver was trapped in the vehicle. The Weiz fire department had to free him from the car wreckage using rescue shears, a hydraulic rescue device.
