Vienna/Innsbruck, 17 July 2026

Long-distance rail services over the Brenner Pass will be completely suspended for two weeks starting Saturday, because construction work is being carried out on the Italian side and ÖBB is simultaneously conducting its own renovation work.

Two construction phases with different restrictions

The closure affects the section between Innsbruck and Bolzano and will last until 1 August inclusive, according to ÖBB. As the federal railways announced, "construction work on the Italian side means that long-distance trains between Innsbruck and Bolzano will not be able to run until 1 August". As a result, the five daily long-distance services over the Brenner will be cancelled during this period.
