British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is on the verge of resigning according to reports from several Sunday newspapers, while his Economy Minister Peter Kyle dismissed the rumors on Sunday and spoke of a phase of reflection.

Reports of Imminent Resignation

The British Sunday newspaper "The Observer" headlined that Starmer was expected to announce his resignation on Monday, presenting "a timeline for his departure." According to the report, the Prime Minister had recognized, after talks with ministers, advisers and union leaders, that he could no longer hold on to office.

Economy Minister Peter Kyle rejected the speculation about an imminent resignation by Starmer. "I see a lot of speculation out there," he told the broadcaster Sky News. "I have no reason to assume it is true." At the same time, Kyle acknowledged that the Prime Minister was thinking about a great deal: "At the same time, he is also trying to create a space in which he can think about and reflect on the political realities and challenges as well as the opportunities ahead of us."
