Brussels as the Hub of International Aid
The EU Commission announced an initial package of around 884 million euros on the occasion of an international donor conference in Brussels. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke of a "moving success." "Deutschland und andere internationale Geber haben knapp 900 Millionen Euro für den Wiederaufbau des Gazastreifens zugesagt", von der Leyen announced.
Roughly nine months after a ceasefire took effect in the Gaza Strip, the EU and international partners are preparing for reconstruction in the Palestinian territory. Since 1994, the EU has provided almost 30 billion euros in aid funds, according to its own figures.
