The road between Dahab and Nuweiba is an important connecting axis on the southern tip of the Sinai and is used both by locals and by tourists visiting the diving and bathing resorts on the Red Sea coast. At the time of the accident, there was increased travel traffic on the route.

The Egyptian public prosecutor's office has opened investigations into the cause of the accident following the disaster. Among other things, the technical condition of the bus, the driver's qualifications, and possible weather or road conditions as contributing factors are being examined.

Investigations Into the Cause of the Accident Underway

In recent years, the Sinai region has once again become a popular destination for domestic and foreign tourists after the security situation had temporarily eased. Serious traffic accidents on the peninsula's overland roads are not uncommon and are frequently attributed to excessive speed, poor vehicle maintenance, and the lack of seatbelts.

The authorities announced that they would compensate the families of the victims and provide comprehensive medical assistance to the injured. The Prime Minister and the relevant ministries expressed their condolences to the relatives and pledged a swift clarification of the course of the accident.
