The Carinthian state government approved on Monday a funding program for the installation of air conditioning systems in the state's 79 old-age and care homes, providing up to 720,000 euros from the health and care budget.

Sixty percent of investment costs will be funded, up to a maximum of 9,000 euros per system. Air conditioning systems for publicly accessible common and community rooms installed in 2026 are eligible for funding. This is according to a press release from the state of Carinthia.

Funding in detail

The aim of the measure is to create at least one air-conditioned common room in all 79 care homes in Carinthia, providing residents with a place of retreat during heatwaves. The state is providing up to 720,000 euros in total through Department 5 (Health and Care) for this purpose.
