At the Europa-Forum Wachau on Friday, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker (ÖVP) called for a reorientation of Austria's security policy and stronger European unity.

Stocker stated, 'With all my love, I am not responsible for everyone's individual happiness' (original: 'Bei aller Liebe, ich bin nicht für jeden einzelnen und sein Glück verantwortlich'). He emphasized that Austria must face 'unpleasant truths with a cool head.'

The Chancellor clarified that Austria's military neutrality is 'not a defense concept.' To avoid becoming a 'blind spot' in Europe, he argued for a significant expansion of the federal army.

Stocker reaffirmed the goal to increase Austria's defense expenditures to two percent of its gross domestic product by 2032 and advocated for participation in the European air defense system 'Sky Shield.'
