Johannes Schmuckenschlager will step down as president of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture (Landes-Landwirtschaftskammer) in December, with his previous vice president, Lorenz Mayr, set to succeed him, according to a press release from the ÖVP Farmers' Association (Bauernbund).

The Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture will get new leadership in December. The previous president, Johannes Schmuckenschlager, is stepping back from the top of the farmers' interest group. The presidium of the Lower Austrian Farmers' Association unanimously nominated the incumbent vice president, Lorenz Mayr, as his successor.

Mayr, who previously served as vice president of the chamber, was also unanimously designated as the successor. This means the change at the top of Austria's largest state chamber of agriculture is considered complete as soon as the full assembly convenes in December. The designated vice president, Irene Neumann-Hartberger, currently the Federal Farmer Leader, was also unanimously nominated.
