China significantly increased its deliveries to Germany in the first half of 2026, while imports from the Federal Republic grew only marginally – the trade deficit is widening noticeably.

In the first half of the year, China delivered goods worth 67.5 billion dollars (approximately 59.3 billion euros) to Germany. Exports rose by 19 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from the customs authority in Beijing. In June alone, shipments to the Federal Republic climbed by 27.2 percent year-on-year in US dollar terms.

Imports from the Federal Republic reached 45.2 billion dollars. Imports thus grew significantly more than experts had expected – on the Chinese side. From a German perspective, the growth of its own deliveries to China was modest: imports rose by only 1.8 percent, according to data from the customs authority in Beijing.
