Collision of two small aircraft at plane meet in Krimml in the Pinzgau: Two injured

Background: Location and occasion of the meet

Following the collision, rescue and emergency services were alerted according to the information provided to APA. The Red Cross took over the initial care of the injured, while police documented the incident and secured the flight area.

The available information does not indicate how many people were on board the two small aircraft in total, or how serious the individual injuries are. No details were initially given on the cause of the accident or the exact sequence of the collision.

The district of Zell am See, to which Krimml belongs, is mentioned several times in the reports as a regional point of reference. According to APA, the emergency services on site came from the greater Pinzgau and Salzburg area.

Emergency services and medical care

The reporting was disseminated, among other channels, via a TV live stream from the broadcaster OE24, which showed images from the scene of the accident. APA summarized the reports from police and the Red Cross for other media.

The authorities announced that the incident would be investigated as part of the usual procedures. This includes clarifying the flight paths, the technical conditions of the two aircraft, and the weather conditions at the time of the collision.

Investigations and next steps

There was initially no confirmed information about possible further injuries or damage on the ground. Police pointed out that flight operations in the immediate area of the accident site had been temporarily suspended.

The plane meet in Krimml has thus come to an abrupt end. The organizers and the pilots involved were asked not to carry out any further takeoffs for the duration of the investigations and recovery work.

Further details on the course of events and the cause are expected to be published as soon as official bodies, in particular the police and the responsible aviation authority, release them. Until then, the information remains based on the report from police and the Red Cross to APA.
