Construction Foam in Exhaust Pipes: Charges Filed After Sabotage Series

Investigators believe the operation was orchestrated by an unknown client who sought to influence voting behavior ahead of Germany's 2025 federal election. The client allegedly promised the suspects a payment of 100 euros for each damaged car.

The total damage caused to the vehicles is estimated at 13,000 euros. The suspects originate from Germany, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Romania.

The Investigation and Its Limits

Authorities initially pursued the suspicion that the Russian intelligence service was behind the operation. However, the investigation against the mastermind was discontinued after exhausting all targeted investigative measures.

The 19-year-old accused, who is in pre-trial detention for another offense, made extensive statements to investigators and implicated the other suspects. The other three accused are at liberty, have denied the charges, and refused to testify.

Legal Status of the Accused

The 20-year-old female suspect holds Romanian citizenship and resides in the Alb-Donau district. Proceedings against a 29-year-old man from the same district were discontinued.

The case highlights a rare form of political sabotage on German soil. Legal experts note that the charges could carry significant penalties if the accused are convicted of property damage with a political motive.
