On the penultimate leg of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 19-year-old Frenchman Paul Seixas crashed on a descent but battled his way to the finish with several bleeding wounds, while Mexican Isaac Del Toro won the stage and significantly reduced his deficit to overall leader Luke Tuckwell of Australia.

Crash and fight to the finish

The race decisions at the top of the general classification faded into the background for a moment on Saturday at the Grand Colombier, when the 19-year-old Frenchman Paul Seixas came off on a technically demanding descent. The young star from the Decathlon team led by captain Felix Gall hit the ground hard, but picked himself up and rode toward the finish line with bleeding wounds. After the race, he was treated at the team bus with several bandages and plasters. Seixas himself later said he had escaped with a fright.
