A representative Forsa survey commissioned by the health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit shows that around one in three people in Germany have already had health problems due to heat; women are affected significantly more often than men.

Background of the Survey

For the heat report by DAK-Gesundheit, the Forsa Institute surveyed 1,519 German citizens aged 18 and over online. The representative survey was conducted from June 22 to July 1, 2026. As the health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit announced, the share of those affected is therefore above the level of previous years.

Among the women surveyed, 40 percent stated that they were burdened by the heat – "der Wert liegt fast doppelt so hoch wie bei den Männern (21 Prozent)." Overall, around one in three people in Germany reported having already experienced health problems due to heat.
