In a series of mutual drone attacks between Russia and Ukraine, the chief engineer of the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Alexander Yakovlev, was killed according to Russia's nuclear authority Rosatom, while at least five civilians lost their lives in Russian strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Russia's nuclear regulator Rosatom announced on Wednesday via the messaging service Telegram that Alexander Yakovlev had been killed in a drone attack by Ukrainian armed forces. Yakovlev and his driver died in the incident. Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev described the incident as a targeted attack on an official vehicle of the plant on the border between the plant grounds and the city of Enerhodar.
