According to the Russian state corporation Rosatom, the chief engineer of the plant was killed in a drone attack by a Ukrainian drone on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is controlled by Russian troops.

The head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, confirmed that a drone of the Ukrainian armed forces attacked a company vehicle of Europe's largest nuclear power plant at the edge of the plant grounds. The chief engineer and another person were killed in the attack. Rosatom spoke of a targeted attack on the facility's personnel.
Likhachev stated: „Eine Drohne der ukrainischen Streitkräfte griff einen Dienstwagen des AKWs an der Grenze zwischen dem Werksgelände des Kraftwerks und der Stadt Enerhodar an." The head of the Russian occupation administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, announced via Telegram that the drone attacks in Enerhodar had caused a complete power outage. According to this information, social facilities in the city had to be supplied with diesel generators.
