Salzburg, June 28, 2026

The Deputy Mayor of the City of Salzburg, Florian Kreibich (ÖVP), announced his resignation on Saturday evening, which will formally take effect in the coming weeks.

Kreibich, who has held the office of Deputy Mayor since 2024, stated that he wanted to complete the outstanding tasks in his two departments over the coming weeks in order to hand over a well-organized house to his successor. In his words, he said: „So möchte ich in meinen beiden Ressorts in den nächsten Wochen noch das zu Ende arbeiten, was angefangen worden ist, um dann meiner Nachfolge dementsprechend ein gut bestelltes Haus übergeben zu können.“ His mandate will therefore not end immediately, but rather will run out with an orderly handover.

The 57-year-old also declared that he would no longer be available as a candidate in the next regular election in 2029. With the sentence „es ist Zeit, servus, pfiat Gott und auf Wiedersehen zu sagen“ he addressed the public, thereby drawing a clear political line under his career in municipal politics.
