Munich, June 12, 2026

According to Deutsche Bahn, Munich Airport will remain without an ICE connection for the time being: a long-distance service cannot be sensibly implemented on the currently heavily utilized tracks, and a new line would be required.

Outdated planning from the 1980s

Munich Airport, Germany's second-largest airport, is still waiting in 2026 for a connection to Deutsche Bahn's long-distance network. As the company confirmed, an ICE connection to the airport cannot be realized on the existing routes.
