Train services on the crucial high-speed route between Munich and Ingolstadt were severely disrupted on Thursday after a bridge was damaged, leading to widespread delays and cancellations.
Deutsche Bahn reported "massive Beeinträchtigungen" (massive disruptions) on the line, which forms part of the fastest ICE connection between Munich and Nuremberg. The disruption affected both long-distance and regional services.
The incident occurred near Baar-Ebenhausen, a municipality located along the Munich-Ingolstadt railway line. The exact nature and cause of the bridge damage were not immediately detailed.
