Bridge Damage Causes Major Delays on Key Munich-Ingolstadt Rail Route

As a result of the necessary line closure, long-distance ICE trains were temporarily diverted from their normal route. Regional services also faced significant operational changes.

Regional trains on the RE1 and RB16 lines were particularly affected. According to Deutsche Bahn, some services ended prematurely, while others were forced to wait at stations near the affected section of track.

All-Clear and Resumption of Services

However, after a few hours of intensive inspection, Deutsche Bahn issued an all-clear. A company spokesperson announced that the situation was resolved.

"Die Begutachtung der Brücke und unsere Erkundungsfahrten sind abgeschlossen," the spokesperson stated, confirming that the bridge assessment and test runs were complete.

Following the successful inspection, the railway operator confirmed that normal service could resume. The line was reopened for both long-distance and regional traffic.

"Reisenden steht damit wieder das planmäßige Angebot im Fern- und Regionalverkehr zur Verfügung," the spokesperson added, assuring passengers that the scheduled timetable was once again available.

The brief but intense disruption highlights the vulnerability of key infrastructure on one of Germany's most important high-speed rail corridors. The Munich-Nuremberg line is a critical link in the national and European rail network.
