Berlin, October 27, 2026: Disposable e-cigarettes emerged as the nicotine products most popular with adolescents, according to a study commissioned by the health insurance fund DAK.

The study commissioned by DAK found that disposable e-cigarettes are the preferred nicotine product among young people aged 15 to 17. The figure emerged from a comparison with nicotine consumption observed in the same age group as part of a survey conducted in Germany.

Overall, 17% of students aged 15 to 17 surveyed said they had smoked traditional tobacco cigarettes in the previous month. The figure was cited among the study’s findings, which involved the Bundesinstitut für öffentliche Gesundheit and the Kieler Institut für Therapie- und Gesundheitsforschung, also known as IFT-Nord.

The result describes German adolescents’ preferences regarding nicotine products and captures a market in which disposable e-cigarettes have gained a central position. The study did not indicate in the available documentation whether the observed preferences include a shift from traditional smoking or the start of nicotine consumption.
