Chemnitz, June 05, 2026
On Friday, the Chemnitz District Court sentenced a 38-year-old Afghan national to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, simultaneously determining a particular severity of guilt.
The verdict was announced at the Chemnitz District Court under the presiding judge Janko Ehrlich, as a court spokesperson reported. The chamber deemed it proven that the defendant had killed his wife in Chemnitz in September 2025. Due to the determined particular severity of guilt, early release from prison is almost impossible. The verdict is not yet legally binding and can be appealed through revision.
According to the court's findings, the man struck his wife with the blunt side of a cleaver with great force on her head, neck, and upper body. The murder weapon was seized. The woman sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital after an altercation, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later. Eyewitnesses had made the emergency call.
