Houston, 23 May 2026
The Democratic Republic of Congo's national football team will isolate for 21 days before the 2026 World Cup in the USA due to an Ebola outbreak in their home country.
The team is currently training in Belgium and will play two preparation matches there before heading to Houston, where they are scheduled to arrive on June 11th.
Andrew Giuliani, head of the White House task force for the World Cup, stated that the team would risk entry if they do not complete the isolation period.
The Congolese delegation canceled a three-day training camp in Kinshasa and a farewell event with fans as part of precautionary measures.
This marks DR Congo's second World Cup appearance, having previously competed in 1974 under the name Zaire.
