The ÖAMTC has pointed to several changes in Austrian driver's license matters that will come into force from September 1 and affect various aspects from exam attempts to validity.

The changes take effect from September 1 according to the mobility club and encompass several points. Ursula Zelenka, ÖAMTC legal expert, explained the innovations in detail. They concern both repeat exams and the validity of documents.

A central change concerns the period for retaking after a failed driver's license exam. In the future, this will be possible after just twelve days, instead of the previous two weeks.

Shorter Waiting Period for Repeat Exams

In cases of attempted cheating, the ban period will be extended significantly. Anyone who cheats during an exam will in the future have to wait 18 instead of nine months before a new attempt is possible.
