The e-bike boom in Germany is weakening significantly after the end of the Corona boom, as shown by a study presented on Tuesday by the consultancy EY-Parthenon.
According to the analysis, revenue in the German bicycle industry fell in 2025 by almost eight percent to 5.85 billion euros. This was primarily attributable to a notably shrinking e-bike business. EY-Parthenon bases its findings on data from manufacturers, retailers, and bicycle associations, according to its own statements.
Sales and Prices Under Pressure
Overall, the number of bicycles sold in 2025 fell by 4 percent to 3.7 million units. The average price of all bicycles in Germany in 2025 was 1,581 euros, 4 percent below the previous year's figure. "Das lag ausschließlich am Preisrückgang bei E-Bikes, die sich um 4 Prozent auf 2.550 Euro verbilligten," the study states. Prices for conventional bicycles remained stable at 500 euros.
