The share of pure electric cars in new passenger car registrations in Germany rose significantly to 24.8 percent in the first half of 2026, with the range between the federal states extending from just under one-sixth to just under one-third, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority.

According to industry assessments, electric cars are currently experiencing an upswing. This is also reflected in the current registration figures, as shown by data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority. Nationwide, the share of pure electric cars (BEVs) in new passenger car registrations rose significantly to 24.8 percent in the first half of the year.
