Berlin, July 15, 2026
According to its own statements, the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo have now confirmed more than 2,000 infection cases with the Ebola virus, as emerged on July 15, 2026 from a report by Deutschlandfunk.
The current outbreak has kept the health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo on tenterhooks for months. As the authorities of the Central African country announced, more than 2,000 infection cases have now been confirmed. The epidemic has thereby crossed a symbolically as well as epidemiologically significant threshold.
Once again, the provinces in the east of the country are particularly affected, above all North Kivu and Ituri, which were already considered epicenters in earlier outbreaks. Infections have also been reported from the province of Haut-Uele. The majority of cases continues to be concentrated in these regions, where the health infrastructure has been considered chronically overstretched for years.
