An eight-million-euro luxury yacht sank on Wednesday off the northern coast of Sardinia, four days after a new Italian owner had taken over the vessel.
According to Italian media reports, the boat went down near the bay of Poltu Quatu on the Costa Smeralda. The waters off the locality of Capo Ferro, which belongs to the municipality of Arzachena, are popular among owners and charterers of luxury cruises. According to initial reports, the yacht rapidly filled with water and slipped into greater depths.
Ownership change just days before
The previous owner had only handed over the ship to a new Italian owner last Friday. According to consistent reports in the Italian newspapers, the new owner found the wreck on the coast. For the new ownership side, the rapid sinking thus came practically out of the blue.
