A roughly 20-meter yacht caught fire off the northern Italian Adriatic coast near Jesolo and later sank, with ten people rescued.
The fire broke out on Sunday morning within sight of the Jesolo coast, according to the coast guard and fire service. Witnesses reported a widely visible plume of smoke rising over the sea, also visible from the beach of Jesolo and the area around the Jesolo lighthouse. The roughly 20-meter yacht caught fire from a still-unknown cause and eventually sank.
According to initial findings, ten people were on board, all of whom were rescued. Rescue boats and helicopters were deployed; no injuries have been reported so far. The rescued were brought ashore and received medical care.
