Gams bei Hieflau, June 14, 2026
An eight-year-old girl ran into the car of an 85-year-old woman on Sunday morning in Gams bei Hieflau (Liezen district), injuring her left ankle in the process.
The girl had been carrying her three-year-old cousin on her back when the accident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. According to police, the child wanted to cross the municipal road from a beer garden to the inn opposite and collided with the passing car of the elderly woman in the area of the left front fender; the senior driver was coming from the cemetery and heading toward the B 25.
The eight-year-old fell to the ground in the collision and injured her left ankle. After receiving initial treatment, she was flown by rescue helicopter to Steyr Hospital. Information on the exact severity of the injury was not initially available.
