The EU foreign ministers opened the fundamental rights cluster in Luxembourg with Ukraine and Moldova for the first time; Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger demanded an acceleration of the accession process and advocated for the 21st sanctions package against Russia.

At the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg on Monday, a new chapter in the accession talks with Kyiv and Chișinău was opened. For the first time, the negotiation block "Cluster Fundamentals" was opened, which comprises five chapters: the rule of law and fundamental rights; justice, freedom and security; public procurement; statistics; and financial control. EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos spoke of a "Mega Monday for the enlargement process".
