European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas cautioned member states on Thursday against public concessions in potential Ukraine peace negotiations, describing the dynamic as a 'Russian trap' designed to weaken Western resolve.
A Call for Strategic Silence
Speaking ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Kallas urged supporters of a negotiated settlement to refrain from detailed public debates that could be exploited by Moscow. "It is a trap that Russia wants to lure us into," she said.
The warning comes as the European Commission and the EU's External Action Service began confidential discussions with member state representatives on a proposal for what is now the 21st sanctions package against Russia, according to information obtained by the German Press Agency (dpa).
