A 23-year-old man from the Czech Republic fell into a gorge at the entrance of the Postalm via ferrata near Strobl in the Flachgau district at midday on Monday, July 13, 2026, and suffered fatal injuries in the process.

As the Salzburg Mountain Rescue service reported, the accident occurred at the beginning of the Postalm via ferrata in the Salzkammergut. „Der Tscheche stürzte gleich am Beginn des Steigs ab in die Klamm", according to the statement from the mountain rescue service. The man sustained fatal injuries in the fall.

The alerted mountain rescuers from Strobl immediately rappelled down to the victim, „konnten vor Ort aber nur noch dessen Tod feststellen". The Postalm via ferrata near Strobl is among the better-known via ferratas in Salzburg's Flachgau district and leads through partially exposed terrain.
