A 60-year-old woman died on Thursday on the B96 between Teufenbach and Katsch an der Mur in the district of Murtal when her car collided head-on with an oncoming truck in a long right-hand bend near Frojach.
Course of the accident
According to the current state of the investigation, the driver lost control of her vehicle in the bend and veered into the oncoming lane, as police reported. There, she collided head-on with the truck driven by a 34-year-old man from the district of Spittal an der Drau. The impact was so severe that the 60-year-old succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.
Consequences and closure
The driver of the truck largely survived the collision without injuries, according to initial findings. He was cared for by the emergency services and was able to leave the scene of the accident after receiving medical treatment. No serious injuries have been found on him so far.
