Southeast Styria, 21 July 2026
A 62-year-old woman from Germany died on Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision with an articulated lorry on the Kirchbacher Straße (B73) in Ziprein (district of Southeast Styria).
The accident occurred at around 2:10 p.m. at road kilometre 32.2. For reasons that have yet to be clarified, the 62-year-old, who was travelling by car from Ziprein towards Seibuttendorf, drifted onto the opposite carriageway and collided head-on with an oncoming articulated lorry from Slovenia.
The force of the impact hurled the car off the road, and it came to a standstill in the adjacent field. The woman was trapped in the wreckage. The Ziprein volunteer fire brigade, which had been alerted, freed her from the vehicle using rescue shears.
