Identity of the victims

The two occupants of the car, a German married couple, were also injured in the collision. Bystanders and other first responders who were at the scene immediately began resuscitation measures. The Salzburg police asked in particular road users who were travelling on the B320 between Radstadt and Mandling on Sunday afternoon and may have made observations to contact the nearest police station. There was no more detailed information on the current state of health of the two injured car occupants on Sunday evening.

The B320 on the section between Radstadt and Mandling is built as a two-lane federal highway with oncoming traffic. There is no structural separation of the directional lanes. As a result, a head-on collision on this section typically has particularly severe consequences, because both vehicles crash into each other without braking.

Police pointed out that, as of the current state of the investigation, neither a technical defect on the motorcycle nor a technical defect on the car had been confirmed as the cause of the accident. There were also no reliable findings by Sunday evening regarding the exact angle of impact and the speeds travelled. The expert will present his evaluations in the coming days.
