Around 60 fans received free tickets for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico due to a technical glitch on the FIFA website and are now being asked to pay the correct price.
What Happened?
According to the world football governing body FIFA, a technical error occurred during the processing of ticket orders, resulting in dozens of fans being allocated tickets without proper payment. The glitch reportedly came to light about a week before the World Cup's opening match. FIFA, based in Zurich, confirmed the incident and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to those affected.
As the association announced on Wednesday, approximately 60 buyers received a notification that tickets had been assigned to them free of charge during the ordering process. While the tickets had been reserved beforehand, payment was not properly processed due to a problem during the ordering process. FIFA therefore asked those affected to settle the outstanding amount retrospectively.
