In the criminal proceedings concerning the Crans-Montana fire disaster, which killed 41 people – most of them young – the Valais public prosecutor's office has charged a fifteenth accused: a former vice president of the former municipality of Chermignon and later municipal councillor of Crans-Montana.
Role of the new accused
The Valais public prosecutor's office confirmed the information on the day of publication upon request. According to the details provided, the newly accused is a person who served between 2013 and 2016 as vice president of the former municipality of Chermignon and subsequently sat on the municipal council of Crans-Montana from 2017 to 2020. This brings the number of accused in connection with the New Year's Eve catastrophe to 15.
