Fire in Pfaffstätt: Two residents injured, seven fire departments deployed

Injuries and Damage to Residential Buildings

The two Romanian citizens sustained injuries of undetermined severity during their attempts to extinguish the fire and were taken to the hospital in Braunau am Inn. No further details on the exact health condition of the two injured persons were initially available.

With a major deployment of around 110 firefighters, the fire was ultimately brought under control and fully extinguished. A total of seven fire departments from the region were called out to the operation. Three supply lines had to be laid to provide extinguishing water.

Major Fire Department Deployment

Shortly after 8 p.m. — around two and a half hours after the fire broke out — "Fire Out" was declared. This marked the end of the operation for the emergency personnel, although the final measures to monitor the fire scene continued.

For the fire departments, it became apparent that the drying up of the Mattig was increasingly making water supply more difficult during firefighting operations. The emergency personnel therefore had to lay elaborate lines to ensure an adequate supply of extinguishing water.

Cause Still Unclear

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. Investigations to determine why the fire was able to break out in the separately constructed shed are ongoing. No information was initially available regarding the extent of the damage to the residential buildings, garages, and the shed itself.

Residents were urged during the operation to keep windows and doors closed to protect themselves from smoke fumes. The B148 was difficult to pass in the area of the operation site for the duration of the firefighting work.
