A small fawn triggered a fire department deployment in Mödling on Monday after it ended up in the streambed of the Mödlingbach and could no longer free itself by its own power.
The young wild animal had gotten into the streambed of the Mödlingbach and was unable to escape on its own. According to the fire department, they were alerted on Monday morning to the Lower Austrian district of Mödling after passersby discovered the helpless animal in the engineered section of the stream.
Response teams were dispatched and rescued the helpless animal from its predicament. The fire department was ultimately able to safely recover the thoroughly soaked young animal from the stream. With the help of an animal transport box, the frightened fawn was carefully lifted out of the water and brought to a dry location.
Handover to a female hunter
It was subsequently handed over to a female hunter, who is now taking care of its further care. The experienced huntress took the animal into her care in order to first warm it up and provide medical treatment. An officially approved wildlife rescue station is functioning as a temporary point of contact.
