Five people who had gone missing in a cave in Laos were rescued alive on Friday, according to rescue officials.
The group was found deep inside the cave system after a complex search operation. Details about their identities and how long they had been trapped were not immediately released.
Challenging Conditions
Rescue workers faced extremely difficult conditions. The passages were unstable, and visibility underwater was described as nearly zero.
"It's like diving in coffee," one team member said, describing the murky water that hampered the divers' efforts.
Media reports described the experience as a "claustrophobic ordeal" for those trapped inside.
The rescue effort was led by Ting Li Gengkat Bongkawong, the head of the Thai rescue team. He stressed the high stakes of the operation.
